SWEET: Downtown Abbey finally being recognized with National Television gong
(LONDON) — Several shows are being recognized by the National Television Awards this week including strictly come dancing and even Downtown Abbey.
Although the hit series, starring Hugh Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith and Elizabeth McGovern, was first broadcast in September 2010, it was deemed “too late” to be considered.
This year Downtown however is not only up for the prestigious Best Drama gong (woop!) but it is also widely expected to dominate and win it — seeing off tough competition like fellow ITV show Doctor Who, Merlin and Waterloo Road.
