Reuters causes stir with claims that Antarctica has ‘Alien invasion’
A new report from REUTERS has caused quite a bit of stir this morning after alleging that Antarctica is under an ‘Alien invasion’ due to things that humans have left in the region.
It almost appears as if the report is sort of ‘Out there’ not entirely untrue considering pieces of information can be found in medical journals [according to what one of our readers told us].
“The people that were carrying the most had lots and lots of seeds. They really were substantial threats,” said Dana Bergstrom, from the Australian Antarctic Division.
“When we take things in through hitchhiking then we get species which are competitive. The plants and animals there are not necessarily competitive, so there’s a good chance… we’d start losing various precious biodiversity on the (Antarctic) continent,” – Snippet from Reuters
