Must see: New computer virus discovered
According to security experts, a highly sophisticated and possibly dangerous computer virus has been discovered, and is reportedly affecting computers throughout the middle east and Iran — the issue? Iranian officials have begun to point fingers at the United States, blaming the country for ‘planting the virus on their infrastructures’.
Experts say that the virus was deployed around five years ago, to engage in what is being called ‘state-sponsored cyber espionage’.
Evidence looked at suggests that the virus, dubbed ‘Flame’, may have been built on behalf of the same nation(s) that commissioned in the Stuxnet worm that vehemently attacked Iran’s nuclear program in 2010, according to Kaspersky Lab, the Russian cyber security software maker that took full credit for initially discovering the infections.
It could be dangerous
If Kaspersky’s findings are correct this virus could be one of the worst in cyber history. The virus is simple, it will steal your data and then harvest it elsewhere. It is unknown at this time which virus programs may protect computers from it (U.S residents fear no more, you should be safe for now).
