Movie Review: Blue Lagoon ‘The Awakening’
Movie: Blue Lagoon ‘The Awakening’ (Premiere Movie).
Movie rating: *****
As many high school students dream, most of us wish that for our senior year we could travel to an exotic destination like Trinidad and Tobango, but unfortunately we can’t.
In typical teenage fashion, the flick almost instantaneously decides to take a turn to a party boat immediately after landing in Trinidad. It’s unfortunate that the party was abruptly cancelled after foreign public decided to break-up a drug and alcohol fueled party all three girls and Emma decided to attend.
Ba-ding. Emma, the shy, sort-of reserved ‘I have a schedule to keep’ kind of girl declines to drink cocktails while at the party to ‘get laid by the hot quarterback’ as her kind-of whore like friend decides to put it.
This film even before mid-point teaches a viewer one thing, and one thing only, don’t listen to your friends when they’re trying to convince you to go to a party in the middle of no where on a boat in a country you’ve never been to.
Midpoint
As the police decided to break-up the party and investigate the suspicion of drugs and alcohol, Emma (and the REALLY cute rebel guy) decided to ‘fall’ off the boat and into a safety boat that just so happened to have been sitting on the side of the boat and out of view of the police.
Again, unfortunate but made for a good movie considering they were then lost at sea; but who could complain being lost at sea with such a cute guy? Can we talk about how handsome this ‘rebel’ was?
In an almost-scary turn to the film itself, Emma and the rebel were lost at sea for about a day before they finally seen ‘island’ in the distance, which is actually the island they’ll likely forever be lost on.
Mama bear is upppppppppppppppppset. We’ve got to be honest, we can’t remember the last time we seen Denise Richards in a movie we actually paid any attention to. Major props to the ‘protective mom’ who flies all the way to Trinidad to find her lost daughter in a forest like environment infested with more bugs than a run down house in Atlanta.
We can’t help but wonder why this girl wasn’t itching to see this gorgeous guy with his shirt off in the water-fall? Like really, who wouldn’t want that?
The hilarity of this film begins while on the island, and the girl knows she likes what she sees when the rebel’s shirt comes off, but denies ever looking and has the look on her ‘Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!’, yet later sleeps with him.
You know the drill. We hate spoiling movies completely, so we only give half-a-spoiler for movie premieres. Catch ‘Blue Lagoon’ on right now, and again around midnight tonight.
Next weeks feature film: TallHotBlond directed by Courtney Cox.
