About a month ago,  I granted my co-writer Timmy Taylor permission to write about his personal life even though he technically wasn’t allowed to do so because of his age .. I did so because I thought there wouldn’t be much of a problem with him having shared his troubling battle with heart failure.

I remember the first time I met Timmy which was only like  3 or so months ago when I  was first assigned to  cover that story about a body found on the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

We instantly became friends, mostly because even my being 3 years older we both really loved  the  Nintendo DS game ‘Pet-pals’.  Because of a simple game we became  really good friends, eventually work buddies up until our dear lord took him to a better place. I will remember that day like it was yesterday; he was such a loveable little kid who really loved what he did.

It was no secret within Daily News how bad of a struggle Timmy had with heart failure, mainly due to the fact his mum pleaded that Daily News as a whole keep it under wraps until he was ready to talk about.

Timmy’s mum told me over the phone that he went in peace, and wanted nothing more than his friends to know that he is now in a better place.  The one thing I learned from Timmy was simply this, never take anything for granted as one moment a person close to you could be  there; and the next gone.

Rest in peace little buddy, you will be missed.
