Dad of man beaten to death sues police
CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA: According to court documents obtained by Daily News — the father of Kelly Saint James, a man whom was brutally beaten by police has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the police precinct as a whole; and the six officers individually involved.
Frederick Ronald Thomas Jr, 55, filed the lawsuit in a Cypress CA court house alleging that the police owe his family more than $25,000 in lucrative damages following the death of his son; in which he says could’ve been ultimately avoided if Kelly hadn’t had ‘been judged for being homeless and wearing clothes like a normal person’.
Two of the officers in the case have been charged and were ordered to stand trial in May.
Officer Manuel Ramos is charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, and Cpl. Jay Patrick Cicinelli is charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony use of excessive force.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
