EXCLUSIVE: Former Publish America employee ‘I witnessed their faux business dealings’
When Daily News was informed that their had been not one, but two different lawsuits filed against Publish America; we began to dig, what did we come out with? A former employee who agreed to speak with us on the condition that his identity remain a secret out of fear for his personal safety.
Excerpts from Part 1 of our interview, Part 2 will be made available after documents provided are proven to be legible.
You say, you worked for Publish America? When did you start? Did you quit voluntarily? Or were you fired?
Interviewee: I was fired after Miranda found out that I knew what she really did with the books people had just put through the ‘publishing’ process. She first-hand is the one who ‘halts’ all books from being put onto sales, and then instructs others to create ‘faux’ advertisements enticing authors with untrue promises to instead of the author actually make any money, they do themselves.
Did you ever personally meet Miranda? We’re under the impression that she’s almost never available to speak to anybody.
Interviewee: Miranda is almost always available, as any author would probably know whom paid any attention; your books only make it past the ‘Beginning stage’ because she doesn’t play any part in the process until it comes time to ‘send them off’ which is where she shelves them. She holds most of the power in Publish America, always has.
The issue with that is is she’s instructed the staff members of Publish America whom are hardly ever paid to [tell anybody who asks that there is no contact information available for her, and contact period is remotely impossible].
What really happens to the books? You say they get shelved, and then what?
Interviewee: During the time that I worked there, I witnessed these acts on three occasions. The first time, this young man had sent in his [numerous titles] for publication however it was almost immediately that Miranda had ordered they be shelved without even giving them a proper look.
I remember this particular situation because she had ordered they be shelved but continued to deceive the man by sending him ‘photographic covers’ of his book that he was made to believe was actually going to be published.
Except, the issue …. the cover never made it to publication because editors purposefully made a spelling mistake on the cover itself so they’d have a ‘viable reason not to provide it to vendors as vendors won’t something with an obvious mistake like that’
The books, they pretty much live out the rest of their lives on the shelves of Miranda Prather‘s desk because she chooses to? Hasn’t Publish America ever been reported to authorities for what they’re doing?
Interviewee: If you’ve ever seen one of those movies whereas one actor ‘hides’ something almost instantaneously when another actor walks into the room when the other actor doesn’t want the new actor to see something? There’s your answer.
Any slight mention or ‘wiff’ of the authorities of any kind, staff members are ordered to not answer phones and avoid lines of communications at all cost due to ‘head honchos’ fearing that word may slip of what was really going on.
Part 2 of our interview with Publish America’s former employee will be available on Friday, after a significant amount of time has been spent verifying the authenticity of e-mails and documents provided.
