When Daily News met a star: Remembering Aaron Michael Cox
As reporters we’ve met more stars than we can keep track of, and its not to often that we meet one that we actually speak to briefly following an encounter usually post-release-of-a-song.
About a month ago, we were given the green-light to meet Aaron Michael Cox just a short time after one of his songs had hit Rap-Up.com which is where we had actually discovered who he was. Instantaneously, he had become one of the top 5 people on our ‘must meet’ list.
Little did we know, we eventually would meet him to talk about his song and the road he took to follow his dream to where he was at at at that time in his music career.
We were informed of Cox’s passing through one of our mutual friends, whom had actually sent us a message nearly in tears telling us Aaron had died. At first, we didn’t believe it; considering we’re like one of the only news sources to have actually covered the death [the very slim details we have were discovered from social media].
Aaron will remain a great memory here at Daily News, as he was the kind of artist we long to work with in the entertainment business. One of a kind, big hearted, and a truly nice guy.; he sure was a life taken to soon.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Cox, as we may have only met him a handful of times but we know first-hand that Cox was a sweet kid just chasing his dreams in a city not many make it in.
One thing Cox did teach me and my friends though…
‘If you walk away from your dreams, you’ll never know what life may have in store for you’ ¬ Aaron Michael Cox

I know ya’ll still got that interview… The fuck u waitin for.. Release it already
They don’t have to release it if they don’t want to, that interview is probably if not the last interview Aaron did before dying. That probably means allot to these kids, don’t pressure them
I so remember this. I interned for u guys around the time u met Aaron. He was so cute in person, and such a nice guy. Definitely remember that, R.I.P.
I honestly don’t think they’ll release it. I haven’t read much of anything about Aaron anywhere else, being the only news source that DID cover his passing and most of his music…. They’ll probably preserve it for features in the ‘Best of 2012′ or somethin..
See this is why I love that you guys are KID journalists. You show compassion, and such when writing about your lives or the news. I really envy that about this site. There is almost always so much feeling being expressed here. Props to you, and R.I.P to Mr Cox sounds like you guys had struck up a quick friendship before he passed. So sad. As for this interview I as a former journalist for the New York Times can probably tell you that it won’t be released for some time if this was his final interview before his death. Truly heartbreaking.
The interview I conducted with Aaron will not be released at this time.
[...] I don’t feel like I can say anymore because I never got a chance to know him personally, and I certainly don’t feel as though it’s my place to step in and speak on behalf of his family, but at the very least, I can ask you to please take a moment and check out his single, courtesy of the Bazaar Daily News.
