80 dead, thousands displaced in massive Chinese earthquakes
HONG KONG, CHINA: State news agencies are reporting that multiple earthquakes have struck southern China, killing some 80, and reportedly misplacing some 6,600 homes.
Communication lines, homes, roads, and other monuments around the region have been destroyed according to authorities.
The quakes struck the areas of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Their magnitudes ranged between 4.8 and 5.6, according to the U.S. agency.
Some 100,000 people have already begun evacuation, while an additional 100,000 still need relocation according to two additional state news agencies.
