Obituary: Russell Means, Native American activist dies
According to reports, Russell Means, the hard headed Ogala Sioux activist who revived lives and emotions in movies like The Last Of the Mohicans died today at the age of 72.
Means passed away while on his ranch in Porcupine, South Dakota. Daily News learned moments ago that his cause of death was, sophageal cancer that had metastasized to his tongue, lymph nodes and lungs.
Means first gained national prominence after staging a number of high profile protests in the 1960′s, and first becoming one of the very first Native American leaders in the United States.
