New York hospital issues mass warning of HIV exposure: Scary
UPSTATE, NEW YORK: Olean General Hospital confirmed to Daily News that patients who have visited the hospital in the past 30 days have likely been exposed to the HIV/AIDS virus. The hospital reportedly mailed nearly 2,000 emergency notification letters this week notifying residents to get tested, to ensure they weren’t exposed.
Officials who preferred to remain anonymous told Daily News that the exposure happened after improper sharing of needles, and insulin pins began inside of the premises. The news comes on the heels of an investigation by the Veteran Affairs hospital in Buffalo, NY discovered more than 700 possible cases of exposure.
