Obama ‘We cannot discriminate against same-sex couples’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: President Obama spoke today before a hoard of reporters revealing his utmost support of same-sex marriage, dubbing California‘s Prop 8 unconstitutional.
“As everybody here knows, last year upon a long period of reflection, I concluded that we cannot discriminate against same-sex couples when it comes to marriage,” Obama said at a Friday press conference at the White House. “The basic principle that America is founded on — the idea that we’re all created equal — applies to everybody, regardless of sexual orientation, as well as race or gender or religion or ethnicity.”
The Supreme Court is set to fully hear testimonies, and other beliefs in the landmark Hollingsworth vs Perry case later this month to once-and-for-all determine whether or not Calif’s Prop 8 law is unconstitutional and a violation of human rights.
