According to The Daily Mail, Matt Lauer has some interesting things to say about the Today Show. Lauer reportedly admitted to a Daily Beast reporter that the problems at NBC’s ailing morning show are ‘self inflicted’ and often ‘leave the show dark and depressing’.
So depressing, that Lauer admitted that he privately approached Katie Couric in a last desperate bid to get the talk-show host to come back to the show. As any viewer knows, the TODAY show suffered a major plummet in ratings after the departure of iconic journalist Ann Curry — who was pretty much forced out of her seat on the show itself and replaced by Samantha Guthrie.
Couric did not respond to requests for comment by Daily News.
